The Tennessee Health Facilities Commission has unanimously approved a new TriStar freestanding emergency room in Murfreesboro. The $19 million facility will provide 24/7 emergency care in southern Rutherford County, WSMV reported.

According to WGNSRadio, the ER will be located at S. Church Street and Warrior Drive and include 11 treatment rooms, a trauma bay, a full-service lab, and advanced imaging. TriStar StoneCrest CEO Lou Caputo said the facility represents an important investment in the community’s health services.

The new emergency room is expected to ease travel for more than 8,000 Murfreesboro residents who went to Smyrna for ER care last year. The facility will accept all insurance providers, including TennCare. North Rutherford County will also gain a freestanding emergency department through a partnership between Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford and Murfreesboro Medical Clinic in Lascassas.

More than 1,200 letters were submitted in support of the plan. TriStar thanked community members and local leaders for their support of the project, Rutherford Source noted.
