The City of North Miami is gearing up to widely celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 6 through October 11. With this year's theme being "Lazos Familiares" or Family Ties, the events are set to deeply embrace community solidarity, cultural pride, and the strong family bonds that characterize Hispanic culture. As Vice Mayor Kassandra Timothe, MPA, who chairs the Hispanic Heritage Month Committee, put it, "Hispanic Heritage Month provides a meaningful opportunity to honor the traditions and talents that enrich our City," according to the city's announcement.

The celebration isn't confined solely to one type of festivity. Instead, it strives to broadly cater to a diverse range of interests, encompassing art, music, literature, science, politics, and education. North Miami locals and visitors alike can look forward to an array of free events personally designed to highlight Hispanic culture's vibrant creativity and communal spirit.

Among the activities, a Zumba Dance Class will kick off tomorrow with instructor Jessie at the Scott Galvin Community Center. Followed by, Vice Mayor Timothe will host a bilingual Storytime & Coloring event at the North Miami Public Library on September 24. Another anticipated event is "Jazz at MOCA," which is scheduled for September 26 featuring Electro Dub Tango. Additional activities include more dance classes, such as salsa and bachata, and a final celebration, La Gran Fiesta, to close out the month's festivities on October 11, complete with food, live music, and dancing.
