Earlier today, an incident on northbound Hwy 101 near Cesar Chavez Street led to an officer-involved shooting involving a man who was reportedly walking on the freeway. According to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), the confrontation occurred when SFPD officers, assisting San Francisco Sheriff Deputies, engaged with the individual at approximately 11:19 a.m.
During the encounter, the subject allegedly pulled out an edged weapon, which resulted in one SFPD officer discharging their weapon. The officers at the scene provided immediate aid to the wounded subject before paramedics arrived and transported him to a local hospital; his condition remains undisclosed. No other injuries have been reported in the course of this incident.
The incident has triggered multiple investigations by various oversight bodies, including the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, the ISD, IAD, and the DPA.
