In a turn of events that underscores the persisting cycle of crime within certain urban communities, 25-year-old Quendez Volland finds himself behind bars yet again, booked on a string of charges ranging from vehicle theft to drug possession. Volland, a resident of Old Hickory, experienced the unforgiving hand of the law arresting him on consecutive nights. After an initial release on a $11,000 bond, his freedom was short-lived.
Within the span of 48 hours, Volland was first arrested Tuesday night when police responded to a shooting on Burning Tree Drive. As reported by Nashville Metro Police, he evaded officers, clutching a bag with a gun and marijuana. Facing multiple charges including evading and resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, and weapons offenses, his confrontation with the law was yet to cease.
The following evening, Volland, recognized by Violent Crimes Division detectives, made an attempt to flee from them at a Gallatin Pike gas station. His escape on foot into oncoming traffic, as well as the attempt made by his 14-year-old passenger, who daringly took the wheel of the stolen Tacoma only to crash it into a guardrail, culminated in both individuals' apprehension.
Recovered from the aftermath of the chase were not only the stolen Toyota Tacoma, but also two loaded Glock handguns and an assortment of both marijuana and hydrocodone pills. In a series of events seemingly borrowed from a hard-boiled crime drama, the discovery of these illegal items brought additional charges upon Volland, thrusting him once more into custody with a significantly higher bond set at $104,000. The 14-year-old, who lives on the same street as Volland, faced his own slew of charges in Juvenile Court, detailed by Nashville officials.
