The Folsom Police Department, in conjunction with multiple regional law enforcement agencies, has wrapped up a large-scale operation named “Operation Folsom Blues 3.0.” This initiative, from September 15-19, was a focused push to significantly disrupt the supply chain of fentanyl and other illegal substances within their community and extending over several counties. In a social media post, the Folsom Police Department has communicated their intention to release comprehensive details of the operation during an upcoming press conference.
The sting operation, which was encased in secrecy but now boldly comes into the light, leveraged the support from a myriad of county, state, and federal bodies, including Sacramento, El Dorado, Santa Clara, and several other counties, as well as the California Highway Patrol and national entities like the FBI and DEA. Over the course of five days, these collaborations have managed to not only make inroads but to culminate in over 100 arrests linked to drug trafficking, illegal firearms, and other serious felonies. The emphasis was to specifically target online sales and manage to execute high-impact patrols and interdictions in drug-activity hotspots.
Lieutenant David Canepa, representing the Folsom Police Department, underscored the significance of this cooperative engagement. "This operation demonstrates the power of collaboration," he said. "Fentanyl continues to devastate communities across our region, and only by working together can we hold offenders accountable and keep our neighborhoods safe," as stated in their social media post.
The department has expressed gratitude towards the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office for backing this operation by providing personnel and assistance with case processing. The forthcoming press conference is set for tomorrow at noon and will be held at the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office at 906 G Street, Sacramento. The police have assured continual efforts to boldly shield the community from the threats of fentanyl and similar illicit drugs. Commitment to public safety remains paramount as the Folsom Police Department pledges to persistently collaborate with varied law enforcement partners in pursuit of this goal.
