
A car plunged into a canal in Southwest Miami-Dade this morning leading to one person being airlifted to a hospital. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue teams were dispatched to the incident at the intersection of Southwest 157th Avenue and 264th Street, as confirmed by Local 10 News.
Upon arrival, they discovered the submerged vehicle, divers were immediately sent into the canal and successfully extracted an adult from the car. The individual was subsequently qualified as a trauma alert, the victim whose identity and condition have not been disclosed, was transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson South by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Air Rescue according to WSVN.
Officials ensured that all divers had exited the water following the rescue, and clarified that no additional passengers were found within the vehicle. A crew from Local 10 News is en route to the scene to collect further details about this incident and the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The area around Southwest 157th Avenue and 264th Street, where the accident occurred, was expected to be under investigation by the authorities to determine the cause of the crash.
