The Portland Police Bureau has identified the three individuals who perished in the tragic murder-suicide event that shook the Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood on September 6, 2025. As per a recent Portland Police update, the deceased are Maria Florencia Rubio, 48, her daughter Liliana Morgan, 10, and her son Miguel Morgan, 22, all residents of Portland.
Previous reports had initially provided differing information about the victims' ages, which was later corrected by authorities. According to the ongoing investigation led by detectives from PPB’s Homicide Unit, it is believed that Miguel Morgan fatally shot his mother and younger sister before taking his own life. This preliminary theory suggests the case as an isolated incident, with investigators not currently seeking additional suspects.
The initial call to law enforcement was in response to a reported suicide at a home on the 7000 block of Southeast 64th Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, the Portland officers discovered the three family members deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Following the grim discovery, PPB's Crisis Response Team was promptly deployed to offer support and resources to those affected by this harrowing event.
Despite the suspected circumstances leading to this family tragedy, the Portland Police emphasized the belief that there is a danger to the public. They continue to reach out to the community for any additional information that could shed light on the events leading up to the deaths. Anyone with information that might assist in this case is encouraged to urgently get in touch with Detective William Winters at [email protected] or Detective J.D. McGuire at [email protected], making reference to case number 25-245107.
In line with their protocol, the PPB has stated that no further details will be forthcoming until the Medical Examiner completes their official autopsy reports. The investigation into this chilling incident remains active, with updates to be provided as more information becomes available.
