San Antonio Tejano artist Ram Herrera has announced that he is battling Stage 4 prostate cancer. According to KSAT, in a Facebook video shared earlier this week, the Grammy-nominated musician described the diagnosis as “scary but treatable.”
Addressing his supporters, Herrera expressed gratitude for the prayers and well-wishes he has received, articulating his confidence in the medical professionals in his corner. "As of now, we are going to let the doctors take care of everything. I have total faith in them," said the Tejano artist, as quoted by KSAT. In dealing with his illness, Herrera has opted out of chemotherapy, choosing instead a treatment plan involving medication and subsequent radiation therapy.
Herrera's resolve remains uncompromised, despite the gravity of his health challenge. Seeking to inspire hope amongst his fan base, he assured them of his determination to overcome this hurdle. "Thank you all for your prayers, love, and support," said Ram Herrera. "With God’s strength and in the name of Jesse, I will beat this cancer. My prayers are with you too—may God heal us all from whatever battles we face. I love you all," Herrera told KENS 5.
Tejano star Ram Herrera is urging men ages 40 to 60 to get screened for prostate and colon cancer, following his own Stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis. Herrera, whose music career spans more than four decades, is using his platform to raise awareness about early detection.
