On Sunday night, a kitchen fire at the popular Purple Kow restaurant on Balboa St. prompted an emergency response from the San Francisco Fire Department. The fire, which reportedly extended into the restaurant's walls and attic, was successfully controlled in less than an hour after the SFFD arrived at 9:39 PM, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or displacements due to the incident, but the establishment did sustain notable damage. In a show of resilience, the Purple Kow announced via Instagram their plans to continue operations with a temporary pivot to a limited-to-go menu. "We are staying dedicated to serving you as best we can," the post stated, detailing the suspension of certain menu items, including their popular snacks and boba, and a switch to online ordering for pickup.
The community has quickly expressed their support for the local business following the mishap. In their social media update, Purple Kow expressed gratitude towards both the SFFD for their quick response and to their customers for their continued support, saying, "Huge thanks to the SFFD for their quick response and help last night. And thank you to our community for the continued support." They remained optimistic about their recovery, reassuring patrons, "We’ll be back on our feet in no time."
