Tragedy strikes in Springville as a man sacrifices his life to heroically save his wife from an oncoming truck driven by a suspected drunk driver. The heartrending incident, as reported by FOX13, took place near the intersection of 40 East and 400 South at around 6:39 p.m. on Wednesday. The couple was enjoying a walk on the sidewalk when the man, detecting imminent danger, pushed his wife out of the way of a truck pulling a trailer that left the roadway.
According to details shared by the Springville Police Department and reported by KSLTV, the man took the full impact of the truck, thereby sparing his wife from injury. Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene to render medical assistance, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. His identity has yet to be officially released.
In the aftermath of the collision, the Springville Police Department has arrested the truck driver on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
