A Springville man has been charged after a tragic incident that took the life of a local man, Matthew Dains, who heroically pushed his wife to safety. Travis McIntyre faces several charges, including automobile homicide. On the fateful Wednesday evening, Dains and his wife were walking to grab pizza near their home when McIntyre's vehicle veered towards them. In a life-saving act, Dains pushed his wife out of harm's way, only to be struck himself, according to KUTV.
McIntyre, whose recklessness ended Dains's life, was found to have been driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.307, over six times the legal limit, and with a denied license, as reported by KSL TV. The crash that occurred around 6:30 p.m. not only revealed the extent of McIntyre's intoxication but also his possession of a THC vape and drugs, marking a clear violation of the law and fidelity to our communal trust.
In addition to automobile homicide, McIntyre's charges include negligently operating a vehicle resulting in injury, possession or use of a controlled substance, driving a motor vehicle while driving privilege denied, and unlawful crossing of a divided highway barrier. This information came from official charging documents, which also disclosed the presence of 11 empty containers of alcohol, and the detail that three were unopened "within reach of the driver’s seat," as detailed by FOX 13.
