Chaos rippled through the streets of Santee yesterday when Sheriff's Deputies were called to Prospect Avenue and North Magnolia Avenue around 6:02 PM for a hit and run incident involving a green SUV. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office stated that the same vehicle had already been flagged by the El Cajon Police Department after being involved in multiple collisions.
The situation escalated when, at approximately 6:38 PM, a caller reported the same green SUV driving the wrong way in Santee. An off-duty Sheriff's Sergeant spotted the SUV southbound on Timberlane Way before it crashed into two more vehicles at Mast Boulevard and Bilteer Drive, leaving a driver injured. The rogue SUVs ran into an SDG&E power box. The driver, a 34-year-old male suspect, appeared to be intoxicated and was apprehended without further incident, then transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Sheriff's Office has not yet released the suspect's identity, and the investigation continues.
Authorities have asked the public for additional information regarding this string of incidents. Those who know the events can contact the Santee Sheriff's Station at (619) 956-4000.
