
A Broward County man has been apprehended on charges relating to child pornography. The individual identified as 76-year-old Dean Garvin of Tamarac, was taken into custody last Tuesday as the result of a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which traced the distribution of illegal material back to an IP address linked to Garvin's internet provider, AT&T, Local 10 News reports.
AT&T was instrumental in providing the authorities with Garvin's name and address, and upon search, deputies report that child pornography was found on an unmentioned device or computer in Garvin's possession these illicit materials allegedly included grave and disturbing content, including children depicted in sexual acts with animals and subjected to bondage. While there were details of an alleged confession, those specific details were not included in the arrest report, as shared by the deputies.
Information posted online by the Broward County Mugshots lists Garvin's charges as 10 counts of possession of child pornography, one count of computer pornography and one count of sexual activities involving animals, the man's bail has been set at $0.00, signifying the seriousness of the charges against him.
In addition to these charges, the online record indicates the sex crime's specific arrest categories which include possession or control of material depicting child sex conduct, compiling computer pornography regarding a minor, and engaging or aiding in sexual conduct or contact with an animal, Garvin, described as a White male standing 5'09" tall and weighing 130 lbs with a Libra zodiac sign, was taken to the Main Jail following his arrest by the Broward Sheriff's Office on Thursday.
