In a heartfelt tribute, The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square dedicated its Sunday performance of "Music & the Spoken Word" to President Russell M. Nelson, marked by an outpouring of music and emotions from attendees. Audience members witnessed a program steered by sentiment and respect, recognizing the profound influence President Nelson had on many lives. According to FOX 13, Aaron Parks, a devoted follower who made the journey from North Carolina to Utah with his family, expressed his deep appreciation, saying, "I've just been so honored by his messages of love throughout all of his ministry."
President Nelson, a revered figure to many, was also commemorated for his longstanding connection to the "Music And The Spoken Word" program itself, which celebrated its 5,000th broadcast in July. This milestone event was brightly colored by President Nelson's presence, who had witnessed the inception of the program when he was a mere five years old. As noted by ABC4, a spokesperson for the program reflected on Nelson's tenure, stating, "In a way, he has been here with us throughout this broadcast's entire journey."
Glimpses of President Nelson's broad impact were not confined to local devotees. Prominent actor Rhys-Davies, who previously graced the stage with the Tabernacle Choir for a Christmas concert in 2013, shared his admiration and reverence for the late church president. “I think he was a giant. He must go down as one of your very, very great presidents or prophets," Rhys-Davies told KSL. "I loved the man … He was a very exemplary leader."
