Tragedy struck in the City of Carlsbad as reports of gunfire led to the discovery of a fatally shot woman in an apartment complex parking lot. The incident occurred yesterday at approximately 9:53 PM in the 2300 block of Rising Glen Way, as per the social media post by the City of Carlsbad Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive adult female with gunshot wounds. Efforts to save her life were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The aftermath of the shooting saw the woman's vehicle stolen and subsequently traced using License Plate Reader technology. The Newport Beach Police Department, located in Orange County, conducted a brief pursuit of the vehicle after it was found. The driver of the vehicle, currently a person of interest, was involved in an officer-involved shooting. Despite the chain of violent events, investigators believe this to have been an isolated incident, assuring there is no ongoing threat to the community.
