
In a harrowing sequence of events in northwest Miami-Dade, a woman sustained a gunshot wound while driving with a young child. Local 10 reports that the incident unfolded last night. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, gunfire rang out near Northwest 16th Avenue and 74th Street just after 10:30 p.m., shattering a window and injuring a woman.
The victim, prioritizing the safety of the juvenile with her, drove to the Northside District Station to seek help. At the station, first responders whisked the woman off to a local hospital, where, according to the deputies, she was declared to be in stable condition. The girl, who experienced the trauma alongside her, received treatment for minor cuts from the broken glass right at the police station, as reported by The Miami Herald.
The motive behind the shooting is yet to be ascertained. The woman's identity has not been released, and it remains unclear what precipitated this act of violence.
