A 19-year-old woman was fatally shot early morning on Thursday last week in Lawrenceville, and her boyfriend has been taken into custody. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, police responded to a residence on Lauren Kay Court around 1:20 a.m. and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head. The woman’s boyfriend, identified as 19-year-old Sebastian Prestridge, was at the scene and was arrested.
Prestridge is charged with felony involuntary manslaughter and is cooperating with investigators, along with other individuals who were in the home, according to Atlanta News First. Capt. Dena Pauly of the Lawrenceville Police Department said the department is conducting a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name pending notification of her family. The motive and circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
