
Tragedy struck in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood as a 2-year-old child and a 30-year-old woman were shot outside a fast-food restaurant in Chicago. NBC Chicago reports the incident occurred late Wednesday evening, around 7:36 p.m. at the 6900 block of South Lafayette Avenue, where the victims were sitting in a vehicle when the gunfire erupted.
The young boy, seated in the rear of the vehicle, was struck in his foot, and the woman, seated in the driver's seat, was hit in her knee. Following the tragic event, emergency services transported both victims to local hospitals. According to CBS News Chicago, the child was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, and the woman was taken to The University of Chicago Medical Center, both listed in good condition.
At present, investigations are ongoing as authorities search for answers and those responsible for the shooting. Police have not made any arrests, and the woman was unable to provide significant details regarding the incident.
