Nashville Police are delving into the disturbing murder of Harriet Edwards, a 74-year-old woman found strangled and beaten in her North Nashville home on Chateau Valley Court. Discovered by a friend and later announced dead last Monday morning, the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is calling on the community for any insight into the events surrounding her death, as reported by Here Nashville.
According to WKRN, an autopsy pinned down strangulation as the cause of death with additional blunt force trauma to the head. Edwards, who lived by herself, was last spotted alive by a neighbor last Friday, the day detectives believe the murder occurred. The window for when the crime might have taken place has been narrowed down to between 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Officials have collected evidence from the victim’s residence meticulously, with MNPD’s crime scene experts working alongside forensic scientists at the crime lab. As police canvassed the area, no suspicious activities or individuals have been reported by neighbors thus far.
