An 8-year-old girl in Lauderhill was injured in a suspected drive-by shooting inside her family’s home. The incident happened Wednesday night near Northwest 8th Court and 35th Way, after Lauderhill Police were alerted by ShotSpotter technology shortly before 8 p.m, according to NBC Miami. The child was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

WSVN reported that the shooting occurred when a bullet pierced a window and struck the girl as she sat on the couch talking to her father. The bullet also damaged a nearby chair. The child’s mother told that her children have had difficulty sleeping since the incident.
