An 8-year-old girl in Lauderhill was injured in a suspected drive-by shooting inside her family’s home. The incident happened Wednesday night near Northwest 8th Court and 35th Way, after Lauderhill Police were alerted by ShotSpotter technology shortly before 8 p.m, according to NBC Miami. The child was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
WSVN reported that the shooting occurred when a bullet pierced a window and struck the girl as she sat on the couch talking to her father. The bullet also damaged a nearby chair. The child’s mother told that her children have had difficulty sleeping since the incident.
Police have not released any suspect or vehicle information. The Lauderhill Police Department is asking anyone with details to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Anonymous tips may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
