The Bay Area is facing a wave of wet weather, with increased cloud cover and cooler temperatures leading to areas of drizzle today. The National Weather Service in San Francisco predicts this pattern will persist into the weekend, with the potential for some light rain to come into play. According to the NWS San Francisco update, light rain and/or drizzle is expected to hover over the North Bay most of today and into tonight, while coastal areas, from the Bay down to Big Sur, experience periods of drizzle throughout the morning and early afternoon.

As for temperatures, the cold front is set to usher in the mid-40s for the North Bay early Friday morning, with other areas topping in the 50s, save for the Central Coast's higher elevations, which will also see a dip into the cooler 40s. "Confidence increasing for widespread wetting rain the first half of next week," the NWS San Francisco expressed, forecasting a shift in conditions with a pleasant, sunny Saturday on the horizon as a shortwave ridge moves in.

In terms of air travel, the light showers and pockets of drizzle are having an impact, especially on coastal and North Bay regions. Most areas see VFR (Visual Flight Rules) conditions despite some pockets of MVFR (Marginal Visual Flight Rules) ceilings. The NWS briefing indicates that moderate to breezy winds are expected through the afternoon and evening, lightening up as drizzle and pockets of fog might start affecting the North Bay again.

The marine forecast isn't looking too choppy just yet, with light rains and drizzle forecasted to wane later today, a shift from light southwest winds to a northwest breeze throughout the day and then veering southerly again at night; however, "Disturbed conditions with periods of rain and gusty winds are expected across the waters early next week," as shared by NWS San Francisco. On the social media, NWS Bay Area highlighted a band of showers concentrating their dance over eastern Marin and southeast Sonoma Counties, outwards into the ocean, although rainfall is predicted to be shy of a tenth of an inch.
