A tragic incident unfolded in Lemon Grove when a bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle, law enforcement officials report. The collision occurred on Sunday, just before 9:30 PM on the 8500 block of Troy Street, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
After the distress calls, deputies from the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Substation raced to the scene. Once there, it was found that a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had collided with the cyclist. The victim was discovered in an eastbound lane of Troy Street, not far from where this street intersects with Camino De Las Palmas.
Efforts to save the bicyclist were immediate, with deputies and paramedics administering life-saving measures on the spot. Despite these attempts to ward off the grip of mortality, the bicyclist was later pronounced dead before 10:30 PM at a nearby hospital. The identity of the deceased has been kept confidential pending notification of their family.
While investigators are dissecting the circumstances surrounding this fatal event, neither driving under the influence nor reckless driving is currently suspected. The truck driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with the Sheriff’s Traffic Investigators.
