The city of Buckeye is stepping up its efforts to maintain the lifelines of this flourishing community by revisiting water and wastewater rates. As the local costs for operations, materials, and water supplies inch upward, Buckeye's rate review endeavors to preserve the standard of its utilities without sacrificing quality or reliability. The City Council has been proactive, setting up the 2025 Citizen Water and Wastewater Rates Committee (CWRC), a blend of Buckeye residents and city staff working closely to evaluate financial data, dissect rate structures, and advise on sustainable solutions.
For the first time in over ten years, the residents of Buckeye are presented with an opportunity to actively engage in the discourse about their utility rates. Ensuring the public has both a voice and a stake in the decisions that are bound to subsequently impact them, Buckeye is organizing a series of public meetings. The CWRC, alongside city officials, will be there to illustrate their findings and encourage public participation. Buckeye citizens can afford to not miss this chance, as expressed on the Buckeye, AZ City Government official website, to "learn more, ask questions and share feedback."
These public meetings are more than a formality; they're a conduit for transparency and community involvement. Scheduled for early November, the meeting dates and locations are as follows: November 3 at Sun City Festival Fire Station 704, November 5 at Buckeye City Hall Council Chambers, and November 6 at the Sundance HOA Ballroom. Each session runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Residents are urged to take this time to understand the underlying causes of the rate adjustments, be they due to inflationary pressures or the securing of the city's water future.
