
As autumn paints the leaves with a new palette and the brisk air ushers in the season of harvests and holidays, Canyons District high schools are prepping the stage for a lineup of performances that offer a nostalgic nod to Broadway and literary classics, according to Canyons District. Families looking for an evening of entertainment can expect a variety of shows with dates starting in early November.
Alta High is setting the tone with a rendition of "Hadestown: Teen Edition," a jazz-tinged musical that has captivated audiences with its reimagining of ancient myths, their show will run from Nov. 19-22 and again on Nov. 24, with evening performances slated for 7 p.m on opening night, the cast will host a gala with tickets for this special event available now and tickets for the remainder of the shows going on sale Nov. 3. "Cinderella" will grace the stages at both Brighton and Jordan high schools, offering a classic rags-to-riches story draped in song and charm, Brighton will lift the curtain on Nov. 20-22, while Jordan commences a tad earlier on Nov. 13-15 and Nov. 17.
Corner Canyon High joins the theatrical cavalcade with "Mary Poppins," bringing to life the tale of an enigmatic nanny whose presence transforms a family, the Chargers are scheduled to perform their show Nov. 13-15 and again on Nov. 17, Hillcrest meanwhile opts for a more novel approach with "Wendy and Peter Pan," a play commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company that centers on Wendy's adventures in the eternally youthful realm of Neverland, their production runs parallel to Corner Canyon's timings. Tickets for each respective show can be found on the schools' websites and are soon to be available for purchase, with Alta High's going live on Nov. 3 and both Brighton and Hillcrest's on Oct. 30.
