Casa Grande residents should brace for a series of roadwork projects starting next week, which are likely to impact daily commutes and traffic patterns. COX Communications is slated to begin proofing operations to inspect underground conduits along Cottonwood Lane from Colorado Street to Arizola Road, beginning Monday, October 13; this construction is part of routine maintenance expected to last around a week, according to a traffic advisory on the City of Casa Grande website.
Commuters are advised that although a significant portion of the work will be handled off the roadway, a mobile shadow truck will assist crews, at times that could add to traffic congestion and mobile shadow trucks aren't something you see every day, so slowing down and exercising caution near the worksite has been emphasized by city officials. The Casa Grande Public Works Department is available for further inquiries at (520) 421-8625, and residents can stay updated on citywide traffic impacts by signing up for CG Alerts.
In a separate advisory, new traffic signals are on the horizon for the intersection of Trekell Road and McCartney Road. Beginning also on Monday, October 13, work will be carried out overnight from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., with APS and contractors engaged by the City of Casa Grande overseeing the installation. The existing traffic signals will be temporarily out of operation while the upgrades are being put in place, reverting the intersection to a four-way stop, managed by Casa Grande Police officers for the safety of motorists.
Moving through this intersection during the indicated hours will require additional caution as normal traffic signal operations are suspended, the normal traffic patterns will be altered, and drivers should be mindful of stop signs and officer directions. Any concerns or questions about the installation can be directed to the Casa Grande Public Works Department at the same number provided for the COX Communications project: (520) 421-8625.
