The Windy City has ushered in a picture-perfect fall day that's got Chicagoans briefly putting aside their down jackets and savoring the sun. According to the National Weather Service, the region is currently basking in sunshine with a comfortable high hovering near 59 degrees. A gentle east southeast wind is sweeping through at 10 to 15 mph, occasionally mustering the strength to gust up to 20 mph.
As nighttime approaches, skies are expected to remain mostly clear, giving way to lows around 45 degrees. The start of the workweek will continue to gift residents with sunny skies, the temperature is predicted to slightly drop to near 56 degrees, and the east wind will persist. Fox 32's very own Meteorologist Mark Strehl anticipates this spell of fair weather will only hold until the approach of Tuesday, with a 40 percent chance of rain thereafter. "Clouds should start to clear out as the morning goes along," he told Fox 32 Chicago.
The midway point of the week doesn't look to be quite as forgiving. Wednesday brings with it a partly sunny sky but carries the risk of rain at 40 percent. The temperatures will seemingly cap at the mid-50s, which, even though a chill is in the air, remains but a few mere degrees below the seasonal average. With the nights increasingly drawing in, this pattern is set to continue, with overnight lows wallowing around the mid-40s.
As we edge towards the weekend, don't be fooled into leaving your umbrella at home just yet. "A chance of rain before 1pm," forecasts the National Weather Service for Thursday, leaving us partly sunny for the latter part of the day with a high near 53. Friday's forecast spotlights mostly sunny conditions, with temperatures again expected to peak in the low 50s. And just when you think the rain has bid us adieu, Saturday reminds us it's still fall in Chicago, presenting a partly sunny day with hints of possible rain showers.
