According to the official CPD release, a woman was assaulted on October 12, 2025, while walking on Kedzie Avenue from Milwaukee Avenue. The assailant, described as around 5'10", fled northbound after the encounter.
The police described the suspect, who was last seen wearing a dark colored graphic hooded sweatshirt, light colored gym shoes, and a mask. This incident has prompted officials to issue safety recommendations for residents, which include avoiding distractions like loud music through earbuds and walking in pairs. They've also advised staying vigilant, choosing well-lit and populated areas for travel, and avoiding interactions with strangers.
Community members are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities immediately. The CPD emphasizes the importance of noting any distinctive characteristics of potential suspects, such as scars or a limp, and advises against pursuing assailants. In cases where video surveillance is available, the police ask that footage be saved and provided to assist in investigations.

"IIf you see an incident occurring contact 9-1-1 and provide a description of the incident and the persons involved," the CPD statement said.
