Get ready, runners and fitness enthusiasts! The Clarksville community is once again gearing up for the return of its Half Marathon, 5K, and 1-Mile Race on November 1. The event, which is in its second year, has received robust sponsorship from local businesses, including Hankook Tire Manufacturing Tennessee. According to a press release from Clarksville Parks and Recreation, runners can look forward to a day of personal bests and community spirit, with Franklin Street near Public Square serving as the hub for the start and finish lines.
Building on the success of the previous year, Clarksville's race director Jennifer Letourneau shared her excitement in a press release, "Last year’s event brought the community together in an incredible way, and it’s great to see our city come alive around running and fitness." With the race courses—aside from the 1-Mile—boasting USA Track & Field (USATF) certification, and the addition of 'ruck' categories to the half marathon and 5K, participants have a chance to compete in a variety of events, ranging from a leisurely 1-mile run to a more challenging half marathon. The races kick off early morning, starting at 7 a.m. for the half marathon crowd and conclude with the 1-Mile Fun Run at 9 a.m. Chip-timing, provided by Bald Eagle Events will ensure every stride and sprint is accurately recorded.
Runners will navigate a picturesque course through downtown Clarksville, offering views of the city's landmarks and parks. There's an added bonus for participants over 21; a complimentary drink awaits at the end of their journey, courtesy of Strawberry Alley Ale Works. Additional local vendors like Mug Shots Coffee, Bronx Mystique Deli, and Kadis Tacos will be present to add to the festive atmosphere. Moreover, athletes vying for the top spots will be motivated by prize money in select events, with the first-place half marathon and ruck winner taking home $1,000, for instance, outlined in the official announcement.
With over 750 runners already registered, the sense of anticipation is palpable in the Clarksville air. Interested participants are encouraged to secure their spot by signing up through the event's registration page. Packet pickup is scheduled from October 30-31 at the Double Tree Hotel, and continues on race day at the Parks and Recreation Office beginning at 6 a.m. For those seeking convenience and comfort, the adjacent DoubleTree by Hilton Clarksville Riverview offers exclusive rates for runners, ensuring minimal stress and maximum readiness on race day. The full details, including registration and accommodations, can be found at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation's dedicated race page.
