The pitter-patter of paws at the Clermont County Animal Shelter is set to become a lot more pronounced as construction officially kicks off to upgrade the beloved haven for our four-legged friends. In a development guaranteed to wag some tails, Clermont County's shelter started its remodeling journey today, armed with funds sourced from both a generous donation and county capital, to enhance its laundry facilities to the tune of $78,920.

The new laundry setup is expected to be fully completed within a month and will feature an industrial-style washer, dryer, and dishwasher to keep up with the shelter's needs. These machines are not only meant to launder bedding and clean dishes but also to ultimately provide a cleaner and healthier environment for the shelter's animal guests.

Following on the paws of this project, the shelter is already sniffing ahead to next month’s anticipated initiative – an expansion project valued at $141,000 to substantially grow the number of outdoor kennels, as per an announcement shared by the Clermont County's official website.

The additional 30 kennels will not only expand the shelter's capacity but will also be constructed from materials specially designed to withstand the tenacity of dogs, reducing the wear and tear from habitual biting and chewing. The expansion is aimed at facilitating a more efficient cleaning routine, allowing staff to quickly and less disruptively transfer almost all of the housed dogs at a time to the outdoor pens while they refresh the indoor kennels. This is a marked improvement from the current method of moving dogs in small groups.
