Last Friday, an alarming incident shook the small town of Cookeville in Putnam County, where a bomb threat was reported near the old courthouse on the Square at 300 E. Spring Street. According to WSMV, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was quick to respond after the Cookeville Police Department received the distressing call at around 10 p.m.
Law enforcement officers swarmed the location and carried out a meticulous investigation. The threat was found to be a hoax, later confirmed by officials who stated that no explosives were discovered and no one was harmed. In a detailed release from the Country Herald, the false report was traced back to an out-of-area source, adding a layer of complexity to the investigation at hand. The area was thoroughly secured by deputies and police officers during the incident, ensuring public safety amid the chaos.
As of now, details surrounding the individual or individuals responsible for the bomb threat remain sparse. "The investigation into this false threat is ongoing," the Sheriff's Office declared in a statement obtained by 1025 WoW Country.
