According to the CPD's notice, the recent burglaries involved unidentified offenders gaining access to apartments through doors or windows to steal property.
Three incidents, all occurring on the 4100 block of South Prairie Ave., have been specifically noted, with one happening on October 7, 2025, at precisely 2:45 P.M., and the other on the same day at the same location and time. A third incident took place on October 20, 2025, sometime between 8:30 A.M. and 9:30 P.M. In a bid to prevent further occurrences and improve safety, the police have suggested a series of actions that residents can take.
Residents are urged to keep their property's perimeter well-lit and to secure all doors and windows. The CPD advises immediate reporting of any suspicious activity and prompt repairs for any broken windows, doors, or locks. For those with video surveillance, the alert recommends saving and providing a copy to investigating detectives should an incident occur. Victims are reminded not to tamper with the crime scene and to contact the police right away to preserve evidence.
