After nearly a decade, the family of Steven MacKrell has received closure following the discovery of his remains in a South Florida lake along with his vehicle. According to Local 10 News, Steven was reported missing in the summer of 2015. The discovery was made by Sunshine State Sonar, a volunteer group working with law enforcement.
Steven was last seen at a gas station on West Sample Road. On Thursday last week, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and Boca Raton Police Services Department located his submerged Ford Fusion in a pond off Interstate 95, with assistance from Sunshine State Sonar.
The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed his identity through dental records.
The circumstances of how Steven and his vehicle ended up in the lake remain under investigation.
