The advisory, which was extended until 11 AM PDT, warns of visibility one quarter mile or less in areas enveloped by the heavy fog. This includes the Greater Portland/Vancouver Metro area, extending down through to the Central and Southern Willamette Valley, and encompassing the Lower Columbia River and Cowlitz River Valleys, according to the National Weather Service.
Residents of Springfield, Rockcreek, and other affected cities can expect the foggy conditions to persist through the morning hours, lifting gradually before noon. Paired with this advisory, the weather forecast predicts a slight chance of showers later in the day, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 66 degrees. The calm before the storm, however, showers are likely tonight, especially between 1 am and 3 am, and increasing clouds will cause temperatures to drop to a low of around 55.
The weekend weather doesn't fare much better, with an 80% chance of precipitation set for Saturday and continued showers possibly disrupting any early autumn outdoor plans. A brief respite may come Saturday night, where there's a 40 percent chance of the wet weather abating before 11 pm. Come Sunday, the city is expected to bask in the sun once again, with clear skies and a pleasant uptick in temperature to a high around 70 degrees.
Looking at the week ahead, the forecast is largely favorable with sunny conditions persisting through Tuesday and daytime temperatures gradually rising up to 76 degrees. Wednesday hints at the possibility of a weather shift with a chance of showers amidst mostly sunny skies.
