Tragedy struck on Ballantyne Street in El Cajon yesterday when a hit-and-run driver left a 12-year-old with severe injuries. The El Cajon Police Department reported to the scene following calls about a vehicle-pedestrian accident occurring at around 8:00 PM. Officers and paramedics found the young victim in the street, suffering from major head trauma inflicted by a vehicle that had already fled the area.
Witnesses were able to provide a description of the offending vehicle, believed to be a white or silver SUV with noticeable front-end damage. While the search for the driver continues, the injured juvenile was promptly transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition. The El Cajon Police Department is urging anyone with knowledge of the incident or the location of the suspected vehicle to come forward and assist in their investigation.
