Early Wednesday morning, a 65-year-old woman in West Ridge was the victim of a stabbing incident while she was taking out the garbage. WGN-TV reports that the attack occurred just after 1:20 a.m. in the 6200 block of North Fairfield. The assailant, described as a male dressed in all black, approached the woman, produced a sharp object, and proceeded to violently attack her.
Following the assault, the woman was able to quickly seek help and was subsequently transported to St. Francis Hospital. She was reported to be in good condition despite sustaining lacerations to her temple and the left forearm. The suspect, however, managed to swiftly escape the scene and remains at large, with Chicago police currently not having taken anyone into custody, as per the police's statement.
The details surrounding the incident continue to be pieced together by Area 3 detectives, who are actively searching for the knife-wielding attacker. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the attack appears to have been unprovoked, adding a sense of randomness and urgency to the search for the perpetrator.
