Early Monday morning, a devastating incident unfolded on the Alpine Loop in Utah County. KUTV reports that a fatal crash occurred around 2:30 a.m., resulting in the death of a driver and the temporary closure of the scenic route known as State Road 92.
At mile marker 10, approximately two miles into the canyon, a single-vehicle accident took place. There was only one individual inside the car, who, having suffered fatal injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim, including their name, age, and gender, has not been disclosed to the public yet. Driving through the Alpine Loop, which winds through the rugged mountain terrain, the vehicle became the scene of a tragic narrative.
In a similar account of the incident, ABC4 echoes the details, noting that the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) arrived at the site following the crash and found that there were no survivors. The UHP has yet to release additional information about what may have led to the terrible event.
As the morning light began to spread across the sky, efforts to investigate and clear the area resulted in the Alpine Loop's closure at the mouth of the canyon for multiple hours. Later that morning, as confirmed by KSL, the route was reopened around 6 a.m. Traffic, which had been diverted to alternative routes, was allowed to return to its regular flow through the region, reuniting the paths through the stunning landscape with those who traverse them.
