Fishers, Indiana, is on the cusp of unveiling its brand-new Fishers Community Center, a 105,000-square-foot facility packed with amenities for health and fitness, including Central Indiana's first NinjaCross System. In a statement obtained by the City of Fishers, Mayor Scott Fadness highlighted that the center "represents years of collaboration, planning, and listening to our residents," serving as more than just a place for fitness, but a locale where the community can "live healthier, connect with one another, and strengthen the fabric of our city."
Charter members have already started to enjoy early access to the facility, which will open its doors to the public on November 1. Nestled at 11400 Johnson Farm Way, the center emerged from substantive resident input, and in conjunction with its expansive fitness offerings, it will feature a two-story indoor playground, an indoor walking track, and plans for a future dog park. Furthermore, the facility will integrate a community café operated by Sahm's Hospitality Group, set to be accessible to all guests, regardless of membership status.
Concurrent with the community center's debut, the Fishers Health Department (FHD) has commenced operations at its new headquarters within the same building, marked by a ceremony today. FHD has transitioned from its previous location on Technology Drive and is now set up to provide a range of services. These include COVID, flu, and travel vaccinations, testing, and preventive care, with an eye toward expanded health education and community events in the new space. For those in need of FHD's services, clinic hours are listed on their website, while their vital records and permitting services remain at the City Services Building at 3 Municipal Drive.
According to the City of Fishers, Monica Heltz, the director of the Fishers Health Department, expressed excitement about the new facility, calling it a "centralized location" that will offer residents convenient access to various clinical and educational services. In her words, this move "expands our ability to deliver the accessible health resources our residents deserve," including education on healthy aging and suicide prevention. Meanwhile, IU Health stands as a stalwart supporter of the project, with Regional Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Soula Banich affirming their pride in partnering with the City of Fishers. The collaboration aims to render health and wellness more readily accessible and beneficial to the community, aligning with the broader services provided by IU Health Fishers.
