An alarming chain of events linking two Northern California cities has culminated in the arrest of four individuals following a home invasion in Modesto and a potential connection to a previous incident in Union City. The Union City Police Department, in an update provided via social media, detailed that suspects arrested by the Modesto Police Department last Saturday were found in a white Ford Taurus, matching the vehicle and suspect descriptions from a home invasion on Tidewater Drive in Union City.
Reports from the Modesto Police Department's social media post indicate that Benjamin Vazquez, 22, from Stockton, along with three juveniles, were apprehended after attempting to invade a home in Modesto, after which a vehicle pursuit ensued. Multiple firearms were recovered. These suspects are also now suspected to have played a part in the Union City incident, as the same vehicle was spotted in a video on social media.
In the initial Union City incident, which took place last Friday, a juvenile female spotted several armed individuals near her residence, prompting her to retreat and alert her family to the looming danger. After the resident's confrontation, the suspects, who were said to be four males dressed in dark clothing and face masks and armed with handguns, fled in a white Ford Taurus, according to details shared by the Hoodline report. The Union City Police Department was quick to establish, however, that this incident was unrelated to an attempted kidnapping reported earlier that same week.
As the situation unfolds, the Union City Police Department encourages individuals with relevant information to come forward and has directed queries to Detective Bedford. Those with any useful information regarding the Tidewater Drive home invasion are urged to contact Detective Bedford at 510-675-5266 or via email at [email protected].
