The suspect, Abel Campos, is facing charges of fleeing and eluding police at a high rate of speed and reckless driving, according to reports. The chase, which saw the white Honda sedan weaving in and out of a construction zone and at one point speeding south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95, ended with a tactical maneuver by troopers to bring the vehicle to a halt, as WSVN reported.
The chain of events began around 4 p.m. yesterday when Campos, reportedly driving recklessly on the shoulder of I-95, failed to heed a trooper's attempt to stop the vehicle as he accelerated away, leading the authorities through a congested area and, after an unsuccessful PIT maneuver, eventually crashed into a ditch, NBC Miami shared in an arrest report.
