Heads up, Hollywood residents and visitors: Paid on-street parking has arrived in select city thoroughfares. As of today, cars will need to cough up cash to claim a spot on Taylor Street, Jackson Street, 17th Avenue, and Polk Street, within specified blocks.
Hollywood officials have introduced an annual residential parking permit system aimed at easing local parking concerns. The permit costs $25 and allows each household to obtain up to two permits per year. To qualify, residents must have a valid driver’s license, register the vehicle in their name, and provide proof of residency, such as a tax or utility bill. However, residents of multi-unit rental properties are not eligible for the new parking permits. According to a City of Hollywood news release, this exclusion may frustrate apartment dwellers, who will need to either search for available free parking or pay metered rates.
For residents and part-time property owners itching to lay claim to their permits, the doors to application bliss are open via the city's website and the Parking Office. Paid parking takes effect today and will remain in place going forward. For questions or parking concerns, residents can contact the Hollywood Parking Office at 954‑921‑3535.
