An altercation at a Millcreek TRAX station yesterday left one juvenile with a laceration to their hand and another in custody, Utah officials reported. The incident, which officials say involved an assault with a knife, took place around 12:45 p.m. and is currently under investigation by local authorities.
In a brief exchange with KUTV, Utah Transit Authority spokesperson Gavin Gustafson confirmed that one of the juveniles involved in the fight had been detained. Meanwhile, the victim is being treated for the injury sustained during the confrontation. Other details surrounding the circumstances of the fight have not been disclosed as the matter remains under investigation.
Gustafson also told KSLTV that despite the altercation, there was no disruption to the TRAX service, indicating that transit operations continued without delay. The swift containment of the incident by UTA officials and local law enforcement might have contributed to the uninterrupted service, ensuring that other passengers were minimally affected.
Details are still emerging, and police have not released any additional information regarding the identities of the juveniles or the motive behind the altercation. According to ABC4, the incident is still an active investigation, and authorities are likely working to piece together the events that led to the violent exchange.
