The City of Lawton has announced ongoing construction along 38th Street, where crews are rebuilding the northbound lanes and upgrading pavement and stormwater systems. According to the City of Lawton website, the northbound lanes are expected to reopen around the second week of December.
Once that section is completed, work will shift to the southbound lanes between Gore Boulevard and the railroad tracks. During this phase, the inside southbound lane near Black and Gold Boulevard will be temporarily closed starting yesterday to repair a failed stormwater pipe discovered during construction. The repair is scheduled for completion by tomorrow.
Drivers are advised to follow detour signs, remain cautious, and watch for workers and equipment while repairs and roadwork continue through the end of the month.
