A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that police are calling a tragic case of mistaken identity at an Antioch apartment complex. WSMV reported that according to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the incident occurred Thursday night and resulted in the death of a 42-year-old man, who succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The accused, identified as 22-year-old Dorian Brooks, was apprehended and taken into custody early Friday morning, and he is facing criminal homicide charges, Brooks, claimed he believed the victim was his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend when he fatally shot him in the parking lot of the Waterleaf Apartments on Old Franklin Road as reported by the Tennessean, police have not yet released the name of the man who was killed in the shooting, the shooting raised questions about the ease with which a life can be ended on presumptions.
WKRN provides additional details on the gruesome scene, stating that officers responded to calls around 8:30 p.m. at the 2901 Old Franklin Road address, where they discovered the man with multiple gunshot wounds in the apartment complex's parking area. Brooks was booked into the Metro jail shortly thereafter.
