A 75-year-old man was injured today when a Brightline train struck a lawn tractor he was operating at Miami Shores Country Club. Local 10 News reported the accident occurred at an unprotected railway crossing on the club’s grounds around 10:45 a.m. at 10000 Biscayne Blvd.
According to the Miami Shores Police Department, the man jumped from the tractor before the collision and was hospitalized with injuries to his left side. WSVN reported that the incident temporarily halted rail service, and the man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Both the tractor and the train sustained damage.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
