Breaking new ground in the effort to provide safe and affordable housing, Mangonia Park recently witnessed the ceremonial launch of Waterview Apartments, a development poised to offer a haven for seniors and those vulnerable residents in need. Tapping into a $13 million pool of County funds, which includes contributions from the Housing Bond Loan Program, this partnership aims to anchor a stable housing environment within the community.
Comprising 140 units spread across six stories, Waterview Apartments emerges as more than a mere residence. The development pledges to serve households earning from 30% up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), integrating essential on-site supportive services. According to information released by Palm Beach County's newsroom, these amenities include access to physicians, a home health office, a wellness center, constant emergency assistance, and periodic wellness check-ins with residents.
Energy efficiency and environmental consideration are foundational to the project. The new building meets standards set by the Florida Green Building Coalition’s Green High-Rise Residential Building Standard, promising lower utility expenses and healthier living environments. Additionally, residents will enjoy an extended affordability period of 40 years, providing a bulwark against rising rents and ensuring lasting housing security.
"Together, we are not just building apartments – we are building a stronger Mangonia Park, as we change lives and transform neighborhoods into balanced communities," Palm Beach County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo shared in a statement obtained by the county's website, signaling the transformative impact anticipated by the initiative.
