Kingsport Announces 2025 Property Tax Due Date, Late Fees to Follow

Kingsport property owners: the 2025 property tax bills are out. To avoid penalties, payments must be made by November 30. Late payments will incur a 2% fee on December 1, another 2% on January 1, 2026, and a 1% monthly charge thereafter until the balance is paid in full, according to the city’s official notice.

City officials say they cannot waive late fees, so residents should plan to pay on time. Sullivan County property owners can expect their bills in the mail this week, while others are urged not to delay. Payments can be made online, by mail, or in person at the Customer Service Center or via the City Hall drive-thru, which also features an electronic kiosk accepting cash, check, or credit/debit cards. Note that card payments carry a 2.75% processing fee.

For those who prefer digital payments, eChecks are fee-free. Residents can visit the city’s website, choose the online tax payment option, and follow the eCheck instructions for a cost-free transaction. Phone payments are not accepted, so calls cannot be used to settle your account.

Kingsport property owners who haven’t received their 2025 tax bill can locate it on the city’s website. Simply enter the street name (no house number or suffix), select the county, and click “SEARCH” to access the bill. If it hasn’t arrived by October 22, contact Customer Service at 423-343-9860, Option 3. Officials warn that failure to receive a bill or contesting a property’s assessed value does not excuse late payment or penalties.

Finally, property owners who have recently moved should update their mailing address with the Property Tax Assessor’s office in their county.
