An 18-year-old suspect, Ezekiel Leatherwood, has been charged in connection with a violent home invasion in Miami Gardens. According to NBC Miami, Leatherwood faces one count of attempted felony murder and four counts of armed home invasion robbery. During a court hearing, a judge denied him bond.

Local 10 reported that Leatherwood was among four armed individuals who confronted a woman outside her home early yesterday. The suspects forced her at gunpoint into the house, where a confrontation led to gunfire. Police said one of the weapons used was an AR-15-style rifle.

Officers responding to the 3000 block of Northwest 204th Terrace found Leatherwood with a gunshot wound. He was airlifted to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later taken into custody. According to investigators, the homeowner shot Leatherwood in self-defense after intruders forced open a bedroom door.

Authorities are still searching for the other suspects, who remain unidentified. Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
