New developments have emerged in the 2024 murder case of Jason Durrell Anderson, whose body was found in a Holiday Inn near Miami International Airport. According to NBC Miami, 39-year-old Elizabeth Hernandez has been charged with first-degree murder, grand theft, and fraudulent use of a credit card in connection with the crime. Anderson was discovered on June 20, 2024, naked and unresponsive under a bed after a maintenance worker entered the room to fix a phone line.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced Anderson dead at the scene. An autopsy determined the cause of death as homicidal violence, with injuries that included blunt force trauma, lacerations, bite marks, and neck hemorrhaging. Local 10 reported that hotel surveillance showed Anderson arriving with Hernandez and another man, 41-year-old Yoan Guzman-Zequeira, the day before his body was found. The footage later showed the pair leaving the next morning with bags that appeared to contain bedding or towels. Guzman-Zequeira was also seen wearing different clothes, believed to belong to the victim.

Investigators found blood evidence on a hotel hallway wall and bathroom door frame. After Anderson’s death, his debit card was used to make several purchases across Miami-Dade County, depleting about $6,000 from his account.

Hernandez is being held without bond. Guzman-Zequeira and a third person linked to the case, 51-year-old Dagmart Perez, have not been arrested. According to Local 10, Perez told investigators that he and Guzman-Zequeira returned to the hotel after learning of the murder, describing the room as “dirty and in disarray” before leaving. The investigation into their involvement remains ongoing.
