A pedestrian was left hospitalized following a hit-and-run collision last night in Miramar. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of 25th Street, according to Miramar Police officials. Arriving on the scene, officers found the victim being transported to Memorial Regional Hospital by fire rescue workers. While the condition and identity of the victim remain undisclosed, police have confirmed an ongoing investigation into the matter, as NBC Miami reports.

In a separate incident, firefighters extinguished a house fire in the 2000 block of Arcadia Drive in Miramar. The fire, which caused no injuries, was reported by WSVN. Residents of nearby homes, experiencing a power outage as a result of the incident, witnessed “A lot, a lot of smoke. The power went out,” according to Bridget, a neighbor interviewed by the news station. Sandro Elvier, another local resident, described hearing a loud bang followed by the sight of wires sparking and going to the house, then fire taking hold immediately.

The homeowner, who arrived during the commotion, reportedly surveyed the damage before leaving the area. Aid has been provided by the American Red Cross to the affected family. Florida Power & Light was dispatched to tackle the power restoration for homes impacted by the outage, as captured by 7News cameras. Bridget also told WSVN that as the flames spread, the priority was ensuring everyone was safe, noting the dogs and children were unharmed. She added that the homeowners would have to process the situation once they return. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Two separate incidents yesterday prompted emergency responses in Miramar: a hit-and-run accident and a residential fire. Investigations into the causes of the crash and the fire remain ongoing. Officials are expected to release additional details as more information becomes available.
