Nashville authorities have apprehended Keith Abercrombie, a 27-year-old man linked to a shooting incident in Madison Park during a dispute over a basketball game. The altercation, which occurred on Sunday night, left a 19-year-old man seriously injured; Abercrombie now faces multiple charges, including attempted criminal homicide and the use of a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony, according to a recent report by the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The unfortunate unfoldment of events began with an argument over whether to play full-court or half-court basketball, during which Abercrombie reportedly fired nearly 18 rounds toward the victim. The victim, who was also armed, responded by firing at least once. In the aftermath of this violent encounter, the 19-year-old was taken to Vanderbilt for critical injuries sustained. Abercrombie was arrested last night as he left an apartment on Forrest Park Road; a nine-millimeter pistol loaded with rounds was seized under a search warrant.
Additional charges against Abercrombie pertain to an unrelated incident last Wednesday, September 24, where he is accused of firing multiple shots in a Madison apartment complex parking lot and subsequently forcing his way into an employee's residence, demanding the deletion of surveillance footage capturing the gunfire. He is currently being held in custody; his bond is set at $647,000.
Abercrombie's next court appearance dates have yet to be announced.
